I first met Dr. Charlie when my daughter, Gracie, needed physical therapy for a back injury she endured during her senior year of high school wrestling. I like to refer to him as the “magic man” because he has an incredible ability to pinpoint an injury and determine whether it can be corrected with physical therapy or needs further medical attention.
Not only did he help heal my daughter’s back, he was also part of the coaching staff that led her to her third state title.
So when Dr. Charlie asked me to photograph his wedding, I didn’t hesitate. I gleefully accepted.
From the moment I sat down with Kira and Charlie to discuss their vision, I knew we were the perfect fit. One of the first things we did was schedule their engagement session at my favorite time of day — sunset — at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs.
Engagement sessions are one of the most important parts of my process. They allow us to build trust, refine posing naturally, and help my couples experience how I guide them so that wedding day feels effortless and familiar.
The Wedding Day: A Perfect Florida Sky
Time flew, and before we knew it, it was wedding day at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach.
If you could imagine a perfect Florida day, this was it — blue skies, a light ocean breeze, sparkling water, and that soft coastal glow that makes everything feel cinematic.
I always begin wedding days by photographing details while the bride is finishing hair and makeup. About a month prior, I send each couple a detailed questionnaire that helps me understand what matters most to them. I also suggest they gather their invitation suite, rings, florals, shoes, heirlooms — anything meaningful — in one place so I can begin documenting immediately upon arrival.
Kira’s details were stunning. Colorful pastel blooms set the tone for the entire day — romantic, joyful, and vibrant without overpowering the coastal elegance of the venue.
A Ceremony Filled With Personal Vows
Their ceremony was deeply emotional.
Standing before family and friends, Kira and Charlie exchanged personal vows that reflected not only their love story but the strength, faith, and foundation they are building together. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight.
The colorful pastel florals framed the altar beautifully, adding softness and warmth against the bright Gulf backdrop.
Sunset Portraits: The Moment She Was Waiting For
If there was one moment Kira had been most looking forward to, it was sunset.
And Clearwater Beach did not disappoint.
The sky softened into hues of gold, peach, and blush — perfectly echoing her pastel blooms. The ocean reflected the light like glass. We stepped away from cocktail hour, giving them a quiet pause together as husband and wife.
The resulting portraits were breathtaking.
Romantic. Cinematic. Timeless.
The kind of images that feel like a scene from a movie — except they were real and I had to honor of capturing them!
A Pittsburgh & Ohio Valley Tradition: The Cookie Table
One of the most unique and meaningful elements of their reception was the cookie table — a beloved Pittsburgh and Ohio Valley tradition.
Family and friends contributed homemade cookies, creating a dessert display filled with love, nostalgia, and heritage. It wasn’t just dessert — it was generations of family recipes and stories brought to life.
Guests gathered around it all evening, sharing memories and sampling favorites.
It was one of my favorite details of the night.
Dancing the Night Away & A Private Last Dance
The reception that followed was nothing short of joyful chaos in the best way.
They danced. They laughed. They celebrated with the people who love them most. The energy never dipped.
And then, as the night came to a close, they shared a private last dance.
Just the two of them in the ballroom.
No guests. No distractions. Just music, reflection, and the first quiet moment of their marriage.
It was the perfect ending to a vibrant, emotional, and unforgettable day.
Kira and Charlie’s wedding was the perfect blend of heartfelt emotion, meaningful tradition, colorful elegance, and sunset magic. It was an honor to document a couple who have already poured so much into others — and now get to build something beautiful together.
